  • A mobile wallet is a digital app that lets you add your debit card to your mobile device allowing you to simply tap to pay instead of swiping or inserting a card. Instead of carrying physical cards, you can use your mobile wallet app at checkout. With a mobile wallet, you receive a virtual card number known as a token, which will represent your card information, so your card details stay safe.

  • Tap to pay is a key feature of mobile wallets, allowing you to make contactless payments quickly and securely by tapping your mobile device. Use tap to pay to make a purchase with your mobile device anywhere you see the contactless payment symbol .

  • To use tap to pay with your mobile wallet, add your debit card to your preferred mobile wallet, such as Google Pay, Apple Pay®, or Samsung Pay®, then hold your device near the store’s contactless reader at checkout. No physical card needed!

  • To use your mobile wallet with your Popular Bank account, you’ll need to add your Popular Mastercard® Debit Card to your preferred mobile wallet app. This will allow you to now use your mobile wallet with your Popular Bank account.

  • To add your Popular Mastercard® Debit Card to your mobile wallet, follow the instructions specific to your mobile wallet app.

    After completing the in-app steps, you will be prompted to call the Mobile Wallet Service Center at 1-800-549-5987 to verify your identity and register your mobile device. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours to use your Popular Mastercard® Debit Card with your mobile wallet.

  • If you replace or update your mobile device, you will need to add your Popular Mastercard® Debit Card to your new device the same way you added it to your old device.

    To do so, follow the instructions specific to your mobile wallet app. After completing the in-app steps, you will be prompted to call us to verify your identity and register your new device. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours to use your Popular Mastercard® Debit Card with your mobile wallet.

  • Yes, you can use your mobile wallet at any ATM that offers contactless card capabilities. However, none of our surcharge-free, in-network ATMs at our branches or within the Allpoint ATM Network® currently support contactless transactions.2 To access your funds at a Popular Bank or Allpoint® ATM, you will need to use your physical ATM or debit card.

  • Yes, you can use your mobile wallet to make online purchases with participating merchants. Many online stores and apps accept mobile wallet payments, like Apple Pay ®, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay®.

  • Yes, mobile wallets are a secure way to pay because your card information is encrypted. The mobile wallet uses a unique token or code to make each purchase. Merchants do not see your debit card number, and none of your payment details are stored in the mobile wallet. 

    Mobile wallets also have an additional layer of permission required when you want to make a purchase. Some wallets use biometric data like a fingerprint or facial recognition to confirm it's really you making the transaction.

  • If your mobile device is lost or stolen, please contact our Customer Care Center immediately to report your lost device and disable your card from use in your mobile wallet.

    It’s important to always make sure you lock your device with a password to restrict access in case it's ever lost or stolen. You can also enable the time-out or auto-lock feature to secure your smart device when there’s no activity for a certain period.
