Kenneth Mitchell is a Popular Bank Senior Vice President and Head of Commercial Banking for New York Metro. As a member of the Senior Management Team, he plays an instrumental role in advancing Popular Bank’s vision to meet the growing and diverse financial needs of its customers and communities. Ken oversees all Middle Market, Healthcare, and Commercial Real Estate Lending across the organization, leading his team in providing strategic lending and financing solutions. As a seasoned banker, he’s helped hundreds of companies secure the financing they need for success.
Ken joined Popular Bank in 2014 as Senior Vice President and Director of Popular National Healthcare Financing, where he successfully developed and built a national healthcare specialty finance division which offers a full range of strategic financing services, including acquisition financing, working capital lines, equity recapture, bridge financing and capital improvement loans. The group services diverse market segments including the senior housing market, as well as, post-acute care, and a variety of other asset classes within the industry.

Following his successful leadership of Popular National Healthcare Financing, Ken continued to advance his expertise. In 2017, his responsibilities grew to include the management and oversight of Middle Market Lending. In this role, he and his team specialize in providing working capital, asset-based lending, and traditional secured loans for proprietary and not-for-profit organizations, professional services, manufacturing and other specialty area businesses. On January 1, 2020, Ken was named Head of Commercial Banking in New York Metro, including Popular’s Commercial Real Estate Division. Through his vision and leadership, the division continues its long-established reputation for providing permanent financing for investor commercial real estate transactions, as well as, a very active construction platform.
Ken has more than 30 years of leadership experience within the financial services and commercial banking industries. Prior to joining Popular Bank, he served as the Vice President and Team Leader of the Commercial Healthcare Banking Division of M&T Bank, where he managed a lending portfolio of $1 billion. He has additionally held Vice President and Assistant Vice President positions with Bank of New York and TD Bank, respectively.
Ken is a graduate of the Pace University Lubin School of Business and received an M.B.A. in Finance from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business. An active member of his community, he lives in Westchester with his wife Kelly and three children and has proudly held several volunteer leadership positions with notable community and nonprofit organizations.
